Tips on how to measure and install Bamboo Shades

Shades and blinds are two affordable household features that can add to your home’s aesthetical value. They are used in almost every home in South Africa, and while the jury is still out on which is better, the fact still remains that they’re the better option over curtains for many areas in a home.

So, for those of you who love to DIY, we’ve put together some tips on how you should measure and install your bamboo shades.

Tips on measuring for bamboo shades

Depth Requirements

You first need to ensure that your window is deep enough for an inside mount. You should know the minimum mounting surface requirements for your product. If you purchase your bamboo shades from us, you’ll have full access to the product’s specifications.

Width Requirements

Using your tape measure, you need to find the exact width (left to right) of the inner edge of your window frame in three places: the top, the middle and the bottom. Choose the smallest of these measurements; if you get a 1/16” or 1/32” increment, you’ll need to round it off to the nearest 1/8”. This is the width you’ll order.

Height Requirements

Use your tape measure to determine the height (top to bottom) of the window frame in three places: the left edge, down the centre and the right edge. Choose the largest of these measurements. Should you run into the same rounding off situation as you did when measuring the width, follow the same rounding off procedure or contact us for assistance.

Once you’ve got that value, that’s what you’ll use when ordering your product.

Installation
